@carcinopithecus @maya My experience (from an outsider perspective) is also that begposts get *more* reach here, not less, same as all other posts.
I think the original claim is based on the assumption that reach scales linearly with how 'universally connected' the social graph is, which just isn't true in practice.
@joepie91 @carcinopithecus it's suuuper hard to measure or reason about those really indirect effects, which makes me suspicious of this argument centering them. like, maybe that kind of really diffuse attention isn't all good -- maybe it's *more* likely to encourage the kind of unequal results in fundraising along standard axes of oppression https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0229760
