(this is "a new laptop" from 2016, so you're thinking about a *6 year old* mid-high end processor)
idk i feel like people are always like "oh we need to be able to horizontally scale if we're to handle any load!!" but, like, if you need more than one big computer to handle simple web requests you're probably running over 10 thousand requests per second -- are you gonna get there any time soon? you wanna pay that tech debt now?

@charlotte The scalability cult is irritating honestly. When you're first building something, you don't even know yet what your bottleneck is going to be! Trying to 'scale' everything from the start is a recipe for failure... but good luck convincing people of this who have read snazzy startup blogs about massive scalability and how it's the greatest thing since sliced databases
