I find it kind of fascinating that there's a massive influx of new users to Mastodon and it seems that it's *not* a complete disaster. This is very rare for (comparatively) small communities! I'm very curious about why it's different from the usual "community norms overrun" in this case.

@joepie91 this is not the first time an influx has happened (though this one seems quite larger), so maybe that helps with how people approach it
