kolektiva meta
what does "avoiding turning defederation into our activism" even mean
kolektiva meta
@f0x what
re: kolektiva meta
@Cyborgneticz they wrote a huge response to weirder earth suspending them https://kolektiva.social/@moderation/109536518877693458
and that line apparently references their 'Defederating from other instances' section here https://kolektiva.social/about which is... weirdly focusing on reach over safety
re: kolektiva meta
@f0x didn't they fuck up awhile back on moderation too? When they first started?
I'm more tolerant of new instances fuck ups because learning a new system, but if they refuse to learn and just repeat
That's a pattern not a 'oh shit I fucked up let me make it right'
I've never moderated so I have No idea how it goes
re: kolektiva meta
@Cyborgneticz yeah, it's issues that keep coming up, and looking at their last response + about page it makes sense, because they seem to prioritize growth and reach (number go up) over community safety. It's apparent in their moderation decisions, and the fact that they *still keep their registrations open*. very anarchist huh /s
re: kolektiva meta
@f0x it's so wild
Its the Opposite of anarchist groups I've organized with. The groups are usually small networks, not a behemoth
re: kolektiva meta
@Cyborgneticz yep...
kolektiva meta
@f0x It means they don't want to go too hard with stopping anti-Blackness and would rather write essays about how it's justified to give space to awful people within their community, you know, as activism or something
