started watching curiositystream stuff (mostly got it for Nebula access to support Jacob Geller tbh)

first documentary was a big no because it had the typical documentary man voice that was just unlistenable

Second i'm now watching is called 'Particle Fever', about the LHC. It's nice but for some reason they keep adding this super high tension music and sound effects to some parts... why does this need such a scary atmosphere

Follow

like what the hell, a few static images of some LHC part with a caption "9 days after first beam" and there's one of those ever-rising horror-ass sound effects in the background.. and then it just cuts out to continue the documentary. It serves no purpose. fuck off with that

i'm simply going to watch old Jacob Geller videos again

@f0x Those are usually there to keep people watching across the ad break. The abrupt shift in tone is where the 15 minutes of ads go, that's why there's a weird recap directly after it. It's very typical for the US documentary style yeah :/ I hate it too

@nota hmm yeah it is kind of like that I suppose, when it's a show with like actual drama or suspense it makes a bit of sense at least.. but this just felt suuper out of place

@f0x Yeah, just kind of what you had to do to get a documentary funded in the US before netflix and stuff happened, but it's very annoying
