tbh the dream computer setup is not a personal computer but a multi user terminal for the home

you get one big super beefy central server in your home and everything else is just a thin client that connects back to it, except for laptops and phones which would have a little bit of their own storage and a mild amount of processing power for when you're out but apart from that everything is synced and stored on the home base server, and you could do a whole house decked out like that with multiple desktops and media centers/consoles all using the same central server
