mastodon start supporting subdomain wildcard blocks challenge....

like half of the moderation i do is blocking the new misskey subdomains of already blocked shit instances

@s0 @f0x according to this github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i if you block a domain, all subdomains will also be automatically blocked.

So, if that is correct a domain block is automatically a wildcard block.

@hugo @s0 ahh I think the issue arises when the original instance was already on a subdomain, so if you block pl.*, the new mk.* won't be blocked...

@f0x @s0 well, a workaround that comes to mind in that case is instead of blocking pl. example.com, just block example.com even if example.com doesn't have anything installed.

In theory that would block example.com and all subdomains of example but I have never tested this but it's what I assumed from reading github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i

@hugo @s0 yeah, it would just be nicer to have Mastodon (offer to) do it for you, when you're already in the domain suspend menu from clicking through reports etc

@f0x @hugo ah yes, when entering domain blocks I always use the main domain in the block itself for this reason
