so, once again looking even closer at the new drone regulations, self-built is really gonna get killed off by 2022. <250 grams is not enough to carry any sort of proper camera. in 2022 self-built is moved to A3 which means 150 meters distance from people, buildings, industry, 'recreation zones' is basically impossible

tl;dr angry about drone laws again, it's all getting more and more expensive

went over to weigh my current 3" build again, it comes in at 268 grams, already over limit... and im not happy with the runcam hybrid (18 grams) so wanted to replace it with a stripped down gopro (27grams) + a plain fpv camera (x grams) but that'd get it even heavier...

x gram seems to be around 3-6gr, depending on what i switch to
that'd get the total to ~280 though... how big is 30 grams of lift in helium

@f0x nice idea 😁 sounds interesting, what legal definition of „weight“ do they use?

What if you build a drone using a hydrogen fuel cell and a large hydrogen tank? Sure, some hydrogen will leak through the tank walls, except if you want to make the tank heavy.

Hmm, now I want to look up the legal definition of drones and stuff. At what point does it become a zeppelin?

@quinn it's all rather vague... "takeoff weight" is what defines the class

@quinn either way im much more likely to get caught on the "fpv flights must have a second person keeping line of sight on the drone"...
