#Matrix, Anyone who have a home server, can you tell me what's the load is like?
I've been wanting to start my own home server but I have heard how resource intensive it is.
I've attempted it on a dinky VM with 512 MB of RAM and it didn't go well.

@yuki_is_bored it mainly depends on the size of rooms you are in, ie having to federate and resolve state with a lot of other servers
@yuki_is_bored yes, your server will only participate in rooms any of it's users are in
@f0x actually, how does federation works? Is it mainly just involve on the rooms the user in the Matrix server connected to?
