There's a mechanic that I wish I'd see more in games: active reloading. Like when you have to press again at the right time to speed up the process.

Sure, it makes sense in some games that it takes a certain amount of time that you have to account for (Left 4 Dead 2 comes to mind). But honestly, for a lot of other games, I think the gameplay would benefit greatly from making a passive action into an active one, even from an immersion standpoint.

I also wish games would go further with it too!

@oxyhime people already do similar in cs:go with quickswitching after reload, even though it's never faster and actually *loses* them time if not executed perfectly, so I think people would like this :3

@f0x I vaguely remember hearing about that (not a cs person at all), but there's already a certain number of games with such mechanics implemented, like Alien Swarm or Synthetik. Just wish more would do it, feels weird that it's so rare when it slots perfectly into gameplay and can create some pretty cool moments. Even just a reload into a frag can feel like an awesome action movie moment and not a weird lull in the fight where the only thing you can do is stare with murderous intent

@f0x See: Receiver. I mean sure, the whole point of the game is immersive firearm operation, but when you manage to switch magazines juuuust right, even if it's not leading up to an action movie shot, it feels pretty special. Because what you're using to defend yourself isn't a magic wand that you point & goes boom, it's an actual ensemble of mechanisms and bits and stuff that you have to understand to be able to use
