You know, I really like using MacOS but it bugs me that apples solution for pretty much every problem that isn’t fixed by a restart or settings flag is to reset SMC and NVRAM.
That’s like using a hammer to break open a jar of pickles -sure, you probably gain access to the pickles but also now you’re stuck eating glass.

And now I didn’t even get any pickles.

My Mac still refuses to sleep/ wakes up after a couple of seconds, even when the lid is closed.

This is really annoying and terrible for battery life.

@dysphoricunicorn sounds like a broken lid sensor? My thinkpad has the same, very annoying, but also got used to just doing a key combo for sleep instead

@f0x it does this even when I don’t move the lid and sleep the laptop with a command..

Maybe it’s possible that the lid constantly sends open events but I don’t know how to find out.
Syslogs are utterly useless for this apparently.

@dysphoricunicorn yep that's the same failure mode as mine had. I think some log will tell you the wakeup reason?

@f0x I didn’t find the correct one but I’ll keep searching.. I really hope it isn’t a hardware fault
