@f0x last time I messed around with a 3G dongle for an end-user I couldn't get it to work with udev rules and because I was under time pressure I had to resort to writing a messy script that polls lsusb and runs modeswitch manually. It was such a pita.

Though it still works well even after a long time so I guess that's something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

( I also made it auto-login but that's not relevant )
