These LEDs are a through-hole WS2811 variant, because the mushroom caps were made for 3mm, and I had those laying around

For my other projects I tend to always use the SK9822/APA102. It has a clock line so is usually less affected by distance, and the higher pwm speed makes them less annoying to people that are sensitive for that
