I have seen people being made fun of for going to great lengths to continue using Windows 7.

I must admit to some confusion as to why that's worth making fun of them. Windows 7 was the last time Windows was vaguely in the same area as "usable".

Software should still be usable 30, 40, 50 years after it's released. The idea that old is somehow inherently inferior is part of the rot that's killing society.

Back in the day, when Windows 98 was new, it was considered bloated compared to Windows 95.

So much so that there was a program called 98Lite that could strip down Windows 98 and install the UI from Windows 95 on it.

Something like that, but for Windows 11 and 7, would be interesting.

@mos_8502 Yes. Can we have windows with the modern kernel and security, but the old user interface and *gestures wildly* whatever all this other garbage is?
