Something that came up during all the Crap this week that is my new "WTF that's infuriating" bump...

So I ended up in the emergency dentist Tuesday? What I ended up in for was rote "Visual diagnosis into treatment". I expected a 45min visit and then a prescription and then a follow-up in a week. That didn't happen.

What instead happened was I was told I was right in my self-diagnosis, then sent home and told "Call in and book another appointment. We'll get you back in within 24 hours"

Because apparently my insurer covers 0% of same-visit emergency->treatment work, and this is "standard procedure". As long as it's not the same visit it's covered; but that means having to re-book and if it's a true emergency... WTF you know?

And it's not official coverage limits. It's "Insurance will veto the prescribed treatment if it's pursuant to an emergency visit as SOP because most people will proceed anyway because it's a fucking emergency"

Vultures.

Oh, and I got this bullshit and the receptionist remarked I had remarkably good insurance. It's worse for most people.

@elfi They are. The dentist sent vee home the first day and kind of pokerfaced it. I came back and he was like "So we did get auth. They were just jerking us around, they do this all the time. I ask all my patients when this happens to call their insurer and complain that their BS delayed emergency treatment"

@trysdyn god, to live in a world where this kind of shit doesn't happen. I'm glad you found folks who legitimately care though
