re: Cadpol
@mos_8502 Yeah. One more reason to do away with the first-past-the-post system. Westminster is saving us from a worst case scenario but it could be better
re: Cadpol
@elfi I advocate approval voting, because it requires the fewest changes. Vote for as many candidates as you want, and whoever gets the most votes wins, being acceptable to the most people. This would disincentivize extremism on the part of candidates.
I also want voting to be mandatory.
re: Cadpol
@elfi A lot of LPC voters would be perfectly happy with an NDP MP, but won't risk a Tory win to support one.
re: Cadpol
@mos_8502 Yeah, weaponized voter apathy is what got us Ford again, we need to cut that attack surface off
re: Cadpol
@elfi Voting in Canada is so simple and quick that making it mandatory is less of a burden than paying HST.
re: Cadpol
@elfi That said, Election day should be a statutory holiday, with mandatory paid time off to vote for anyone working on election day.
re: Cadpol
@elfi I think it's to do with risk aversion on the part of NDP voters. Nobody on the left or centre wants PP.
