#TIL (well, actually yesterday) that NOAA has two airplanes (Lockheed WP-3D Orion) that fly into hurricanes to measure windspeed and such.
They are nicknamed Kermit and Miss Piggy, and have little plush mascots in their cockpits as well as nose art to match the names.
