close up of a moth

saw the biggest moth I've ever seen in person outside my window at work, but it seemed sluggish? Probably not in good shape...
I googled for what most moths eat, and the answer seems to be nectar and fruit juice and tree sap.
I found a packet of honey sauce (the ingredients are honey, high fructose corn syrup, and sugar) and put some in front of it. I hope it's okay...

@Decimal iirc you're in North America? this looks like a female polyphemus moth. unfortunately, saturniid moths lack mouth parts and cannot eat, and die after a few weeks. she likely just got done laying her eggs. the best you can do is keep her safe.

saturniid moth lifecycles and lifespans always make me sad. :(

@Decimal she is beautiful though.

@PsyChuan Yeah, it's amazing seeing her up close and seeing how fluffy her wings and body are.
The best I can do for "safety" is to move her to the line of bushes next to my work building. At least here, birds won't easily spot her flapping her wings from above.
Didn't know you for long, but you were beautiful, and I hope your eggs thrive.
