someone (maybe gravislizard?) once said that the problem with Linux is that it's for people who love computers.
as in, macOS and Windows are for people who want to get things done with their computers, but Linux is designed for people who love the computers themselves, and enjoy Doing Computer Things.
The computers are the point, they're not just the means to an end, they are the end in themselves.
but then I used arch
@foone ah, yeah, Arch and similar rolling release systems are a bad place to be if you want to be anywhere but the absolute bleeding edge, as I've discovered with various times where newer isn't always better :/
There should still be a package archive though, last I checked... what the hell, 519 repos...
@foone Okay, the good news is there is an arch linux archive, but the bad news is that it only goes back a few years before getting dumped into a historical archive on archive.org. I don't know if this helps you or anyone else who comes looking, but here: https://archive.archlinux.org https://archive.org/details/archlinuxarchive with more info on https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_Linux_Archive
