With the increasing enshittification of all online platforms, I feel like a lot of us are retreating into the #fediverse with a similar dynamic to how European history went after the Roman Empire broke up.

We’re the weird little tribes of “barbarians” making stuff by hand and doing without a bloated controlling Imperial rule. Sometimes chaotic and unpredictable, but the fertile ground for whole new cultures to arise.
