I really like that we're getting new platformers, jump-and-shoots, beat-em-ups, and shoot-em-ups for old consoles. Not every game has to be ambitious or novel.
I love the simple pleasures of a well executed generic action game, and old consoles like the Genesis (Megadrive) do them in a wonderfully uncomplicated way.
There's also plenty of impressive and ambitious homebrew games out there! 3D voxel first person shooters for Genesis! A mind-bogglingly faithful port of Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night for Genesis!
