I keep hearing people say "Mastodon dot art blocks everyone" and sort of wrote it off as a bunch of nazis complaining but no they really do block everyone. You can make a novel out of their suspend list. I mean they do block all the nazis which is good but they also seem to have a shoot first policy which turns petty drama into instance wide suspensions.

So pick pretty much any other instance to post your art I guess? Coverage is important now more than ever with the algorithms gone.

@wolfcoder This is a wild mischaracterization; pretty much any instance there that isn't a quickly-spun-up fash one (and there are have been a *lot* of them) did end up suspended after a due process of reporting harassment and attempting contact with the admins

@elfi yeah I used to think that too.

I've seen multiple complaints from admins where I actually went to their instances in question and saw it wasn't some fash trash website and they said they actually compiled with dot art and got blocked anyways. now I can't verify those admin's accounts since the negotiations would have happened in DMs but from just reading their rules, especially the bit where they don't want you posting your art on other instances, I have my doubts now.

re: fedi meta

@elfi as an artist, which would you choose? Would you post your art to multiple instances to diversify the platform, increasing your coverage and making it strong against instances going down but excluding you from dot art, or would you just post at dot art and nowhere else on the fediverse?

re: fedi meta

@wolfcoder I'd keep my art posts to just one instance, even if not necessarily dot art (simply because I already have other instances to post from already). I can always reupload my favourite pieces on a scheduled basis if I have to migrate
