It looks like Paizo (the makers of Pathfinder) are responding to all of Hasbro-WotC's shenanigans around the Open Gaming License by making their own license with intent to hand control of it off to a third party entity. They floated "Someone like the Linux Foundation" as just *how* third-party they mean.

Brilliant. Not only is this good on its own but it means Paizo likely won't buy what Hasbro is selling as one of the rumors around this was Hasbro might draft Paizo into a special deal that gives them more rights so they don't draw a legal fight.

@trysdyn IANAL but I'm pretty sure Hasbro has no right to revoke a license on properties it doesn't even own to begin with, so they can kick sand

@elfi I've been saying the same thing, but what they can do and who can fight it if they do are different matters.

Paizo retains the same legal talent that wrote the OGL 1.0 and they say that is not what 1.0 says. Which is a relief to hear. But Hasbro claims a clause in 1.0 says they can retroactively declare the license "Invalid" which means nothing else can be licensed against it going forward even if it's not Hasbro doing it.

I disagree entirely based on my read of it all.
