weird factoid: my cheap condenser microphone came with an XLR to 3.5mm aux cable. You know, the kind of microphone you need a phantom power converter for. Which never comes with a 3.5mm output.

Now that I have a dynamic microphone with an XLR jack, I can use that cable for something again

@elfi My Neewer mic came with the same cable. I tossed it in the bin, preferring to use a real XLR cable with my mixer panel and USB audio interface.

@mos_8502 Yeah, that makes sense. I just have a little 2-channel USB audio/MIDI interface though that might need use elsewhere, so I might direct my dynamic into the onboard mic input of my desktop just so I can free that up for being more portable

@elfi Neewer's stuff is surprisingly high quality for the price, I have two of their mics, three mic scissor arms, and a tripod they made, all great, but that XLR-to-miniplug cable is insane.

@mos_8502 Nice! I think I've got some neewer stuff around. Maybe my boom is them, I forget

My old condensor was a $30 unit by Pyle though, and I moved to a CAD D27 from the local music store that looked good enough for me without needing to break the bank
