modded minecraft help

a forge 1.12 server is having trouble. initially, the server would hang and be crashed after a minute when a player in a certain area was logged in. this was fixed by teleporting the player out of the area before the server would hang

now that the player is no longer in the area, the server can run, but it's getting lag spikes about every 30 seconds with a "can't keep up" message. it looks like the cpu core is capping out when this happens

the server was running fine before. the area had a ChickenChunks chunk loader put in next to a BuildCraft quarry in the overworld and left overnight, so that's the current guess as to where the lag is coming from. the problem is that removing the mod didn't make the chunks accessible again, so we're wondering if it's chunk corruption

is there a good way to determine the actual source of the lag and/or delete the affected chunks?

@xenon Since Minecraft stores each chunk as its own file, I wonder if you could repeatedly lsof it while walking towards the danger zone...

@IceWolf @xenon I recall chunks are mapped to region files based on their coordinates so knowing the X/Z coordinates would be enough, but deleting a region file to regenerate the corrupted area seems like a bit of a last resort. At least it seems Freya found the answer she needed so all's good
