Looking for a replacement for synergy (or barrier, its FOSS fork) since it looks like the codebase is going to be trapped on X forever.

The main blocker here is my Windows box needs to be the server. Most of the time I use a physical KM switch to control my Linux box, but if I'm playing a game I point the switch to my Windows box and use Synergy.

The two leading replacements (usbip and rkvm) only support Windows as clients. Ugh.

@trysdyn Is the issue that you want to move to Wayland? I'm guessing the existing compatibility layers don't work for Synergy, given my past experiences with it. Idk if they ever even added drawing tablet support since then...

@elfi Yeah. Both projects have had Wayland support in an issue for 7 and 5 years respectively with nothing but "Any progress???" updates on each for the past 3+

@trysdyn Yeah, doesn't help that Wayland's very exclusive about input handling and sandboxed it to the active window only, which kind of made any prospects of alternative HIDs or even global hotkeys impossible. I'm looking into it now and I think it might be possible to do something by hooking into libinput directly? I don't know how Synergy does it right now
