What the hell is going on? Is there any reason for me to think it's less dangerous than during lockdown? I don't want easy cynicism, I just want to have a coherent sense of reality

"it's still dangerous even now" is the most confusing take because there's no data or explanation. It sounds like a measured reaction, like, "granted, [SOMETHING SOMETHING] but that's still not safe ENOUGH"

If it's a lie, let me know what the lie is. Explain the logic. We're doing better than the worst recorded rate. That's the only current happening I can understand
