android phone users: do you use gesture-based navigation or classic three button?

@proto My ossified prehistoric ass: I miss my dedicated menu key

@elfi I also miss physical buttons, or at least touch-zones that never go away, but that ship has sailed

@proto I also miss hardware keyboards. The tactile feedback made so much possible and left the errors of autocorrect behind

@elfi I have mixed feelings there. thumb-tap typing on a touchscreen is awful, true, but I prefer swiping over having to tap out words on tiny physical keys

someone who's good with a physical buttons keyboard could blow my swiping WPM away, though

@proto That's understandable. I just used to use shells a lot from my phone, so having the finer-grained input was a boon, especially on my old Galaxy S Relay where most of the ASCII printable characters were at my fingertips, bar the grave accent... and honestly there was a perfectly good key to map even that to

@elfi lol I basically tried ssh once from an old phone and decided that if I was ever in a situation where I needed to log into one of my servers and I only had my smartphone, I would rather just give up

@proto honestly I cannot blame you, especially these days when smartphone security is an oxymoron
