If you build a device with blinky LEDs and lots of them

Can you dial back the intensity for the rest of us poor souls with an astigmatism?

I really don't like the starburst pattern all over the place from these super bright LEDs

Thinking of that: you only need half the brightness you think you need.

If it hurts your eyes in a dim room you're doing it wrong

@kemonine Yeah, I have astigmatism and while I love my blinkenlights, people seriously need to put more resistors on those things, goddamn

@elfi I don't mind binky lights

I have hundreds assaulting me most days at my desk

Butwhen it's dim or in my peripheral vision.... it just hurts after a few hours

I've been slowly going through and covering them with sharpie / electrical tape now that i'm stuck at home all day every day

@kemonine yeh, I put electrical tape over my external enclosures, by far the worst offenders of the lot. Might crack them open and actually patch in resistors for them, idk, but blue LEDs are a fuck anyway

@elfi I prefer red myself....

If you don't want to crack the case I've found a sharpie can be controlled to leave a small amount of light leak that has the same overall result

and it can be wiped off easier

and it won't gunk up the device(s) with the heat or go all nasty and fall off
