why do people want governments on the fediverse?
@thufie A lot of white people are addicted to comforting lies, and they're going through withdrawl?
@thufie actual, heartfelt answer:
In 2020, RCMP in Nova Scotia tweeted about a dude who was on a literal rampage to warn the public. He was in a disguised RCMP cruiser and just murdering people
I think a lot of people have a desire for govs to be able to communicate critical info on platforms that, in theory, govs could also direct public education funds to talk about more, and could directly support, in some kind of virtuous loop that makes comms systems more resilient, maybe more accessible and widely used (3% of Canadians have ever had a Twitter account), and less tied to billionaire personalities, their interests, etc. See also the backburner convo in Canada about "there should be an official Canadian Mastodon instance for all"
Personally speaking, as a bona fide User of the Versyverse user, I kinda want... all stuff... to be on here. So in a moment of great palpable rage, perhaps, I can toot "Do Better" at the Frito-Lay corporation or whatever. Is that so wrong?
@thufie only reason I can think of is yelling at them for the violence they create.
