Why is "bloody" considered profanity? As the only counterpart to "fuck" in the very small category of "words English language can infix" it just seems so pathetic and childish. It is like a little pathetic English boy is trying his hardest to be rude, but is too scared to use a real curse every time I read it. Whenever I read authors who use it I am immediately losing immersion. There is simply no way an adult would say that as a curse, im-fucking-possible.
Part of me wonders if this is linked to European politics of blood.
