@postfilm something this article doesn't mention that I've observed is... other peer reviewers will often not even look at the work being reviewed and opt to simply check the box for having reviewed it since their time isn't being respected. This ensured the peer review process does not function as a test of academic rigor, but just a ritualistic wait period.

I really hope this changes things.
