random instances having their own enormous character limits might be one of the most irritating parts of the fediverse

@ticky I like having a higher limit, but I've never used twitter, or other platforms that limit characters like that, so maybe that's why. I've seen another instance with the limit set to 10,000, and that seems to lead to more spam. The instance I'm on doesn't have many local users, and I don't think it has caused any issues.
