This weekend is a joint birthday party for hag and I. (Dunno if I've explained but hag is QMB's new username. Even when I don't tag her, that's what I'll use now.)

And I often do Thanksgiving dinner for friends here, to distract me from how it's the worst day in the year for me.

Since they coincide this year, I'm not doing the whole turkey dinner but I'm making "USian"/midwestern things: among other things, a hotdish because D really wants to try one for some godforsaken reason.

@t54r4n1 It's so tricky! All the recipes I grew up with rely on like particular packaged/processed foods. It feels weird without them. :)

@starless @t54r4n1 They do have cream soups here! Mushroom or chicken. It really wouldn't feel like a hotdish without them. :)
