Corpo social media, sundress, gender exploring, lukewarm take on corpo social, breakfast
Today, I logged into a social media account I haven't used for a while, now. Mostly local folks I know, not so relevant during the pandemic.
I learned a couple things:
1. Holy shit, it is full of reposts.
2. My chunk of the community there is super wholesome and I'd totally forgot.
A friend (larger person, big beard) asked about where to find a sundress in their size. There are forty six replies with info like 'torrid is where I get mine' and suggesting cuts that work well with larger shoulders. No single person is posting a gazillion things, and there's offers from plus size transfemme folks to go shopping together.
It was really nice to see and reminded me that there's good local folks. At the same time, it's still big corpo media.
My relationship with social media is maybe necessarily complex. I love people and I love communities, and social media gives folks the opportunity to be super wholesome like this. But, it's also a corporate engine that people pour compassion into and revenue for a third party comes out.
Anyways, I have a vanilla latte making rice crispy noises, so I should get back to that.
Good morning, I hope your day goes well! 💙
