we found out that sportskid likes sake, almost right before they leave. I tried some honjōzo namazake I found for a decent price (Sawa-no-tsuru brand). it was all that I want from a namazake, clear and chill and fruity, like drinking mountain spring water suffused with the aromas of an orchard.

we watched Perfect Days (Wenders + Takasaki, 2023) which is more or less the perfect kind of film for this type of occasion. meanwhile I started sewing the new patch onto my bōgu bag. I'm maybe 60% done, the left side and down. as always sewing embroidered patches is a huge pain and I still haven't found a good solution re: which is the best kind of needle etc., but I've gotten better at at least disguising the resulting poor stitches. I'm doing running stitches on black thread following the black parts of the drawing, occasionally doubled back down for a backstitch to reinforce where needed.
