Free Range is an incredibly busted weapon.
The reason I ended with bad end is because I lost Free Range on the second to last boss and didn't want to risk trying to kill the last boss with my other weapons, so I instead focused on surviving its easy first phase until time out.
I'll defeat you someday, just not today.
