i can talk about how I've wasted almost an entire 24-48 hours combined of my life maybe more trying to get the fucking resistive touchscreen calibrated correctly on my toughbook, only to have basically no gestures and barebones mouse click actions with it
and its still not calibrated correctly and I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY
like I use that touchscreen when I cant use a mouse. its not something I want to just give up on.
@lyncia@social.pixie.town iirc gnome has very good touch screen calibration and support
I'm not sure about it's gestures though, but I know there seems to be some, like for the onscreen keyboard
@lyncia@social.pixie.town I'm not sure what it uses for these, but it might be worth looking at a live USB and see if those work correctly
@theking im sorry but im generally unwilling to pursue this any further at the moment, it just ends up frustrating me in the end and I try to avoid spending entire days on stuff like this
@theking thank you for your help though, ill keep that in mind if I ever attempt to solve it again
@lyncia@social.pixie.town I'm gonna be looking at it for my tablet a bit, if I find anything big, I'll try and remember to share
(But it's a capacitive touch screen, resistive is honestly probably a big issue)
@theking yeah its not exactly common from what i know
@theking I have my own gripes with how Gnome does some things but it does do some things well as an environment. just not the type of environment i enjoy using
@lyncia@social.pixie.town that's fair, unfortunately though, touchscreens (and especially for tablets (pure/detachable/convertible) is really bad, and I've been struggling to find a good desktop for my tablet
ive scoured wikis and old forum posts and absolutely fucking nothing has worked
