Really funny how desperately American lawmakers want to ban RISC-V because then Intel's dogshit processors & dogshit architecture would not be able to compete at all. Capitalism breeds innovation folks,
@lyncia RISC-V is really attractive to Chinese firms because it's freely licensed and there's jack shit America can do about it—the only tool America has to actually compete with China's chip industry nowadays is enforcement of intellectual property. America's been trying to restrict RISC-V development in various ways as a result of this (see: https://www.theregister.com/2024/04/24/us_commerce_china_risc_v_investigation/ etc)
@inata@lyncia okay i mean this is why us lawmakers want to ban risc-v exports but also it's mostly wrong? arm china operates basically independently from arm
