tech question

Anyone else notice namecheap dns changes taking forever to be applied, but only in the (CEST) evenings?

Both yesterday and today, since around 7PM, it was annoyingly slow, but earlier today it was fine.

If you're thinking about responding that I should change registrars or dns provider, please direct your response to /dev/null instead. I know about namecheap's inadequacies.

re: tech question

@dysphoricunicorn DNS change delays are usually a result of needing to wait for an (often 24 hour) cache to expire - maybe this is just more likely to happen in the late afternoon because that's when a lot of people come home and are likely to start looking up sites, and so in the evening you're just at the start of the cache window and it takes the maximal time to get to expiry?

re: tech question

@joepie91 I never have to wait a whole 24 hours though. The worst was 4.

I'm also querying the registrar's DNS server directly to avoid running into issues where my local dns is caching stuff too long

re: tech question

@dysphoricunicorn Then I have no idea!
