@joepie91 Nice! Though surprised you managed to go down the street with that LOL.
@ai6yr Oh, it was no problem at all! I cycled for about 45 minutes with this setup, from Den Bosch to Rosmalen, overal several steep bridges and messy city center traffic layouts, with plenty of bumps in the road along the way. It never even threatened to fall off 🙂
There's a surprisingly amount of stability you can achieve with criss-crossing bungee cords! A particularly useful trick is to hook the end of one bungee cord onto the middle of another; that way you permanently tension the other one while also pulling it towards a particular direction, so you get a very robust sort of triangle arrangement.
@ai6yr (In this case, the orange bungee cord that runs through the center between the blue ones, uses that trick to attach to the *other* orange bungee cord that goes horizontally, and prevents it from slipping under the bin, which would have made it useless for holding stuff in place)
@joepie91 Hmm, I need more bungee cords with me I think!
@bumblebeedc @joepie91 LOL the Dutch (here in the US) are highly unsurprised when I show up at garage sales on a bicycle and with a bicycle trailer, I have determined.
@joepie91 20 pound bike needs 30 pound lock; 30 pound bike needs 20 pound lock; 50 pound bike doesn't need any lock.

@joepie91 I think you win a medal for most plastic bins at once on a bike this month! 🏅
@joepie91 Bungee chord validation=PASS.
@joepie91 wow! How do you not fall over? 😶
@StroomAfwaarts It *was* very easy to knock over 😅 But as long as you concentrate all the weight in the bike bags, that helps quite a lot to keep things reasonably stable, by moving down the center of mass
@joepie91 🌟Well done! Thank you for the bungee strategies 😊
@joepie91 this is art!
@domo Who said art can't be practical, I guess 😅
(I don't have a car and the nearest Action is over in Den Bosch, so I regularly have to resort to trickery like this!)
@joepie91 oooo, I love aktion too! I also don't have a car, so I know what you mean. You did a great job, though! I love the carry shit Olympics so much
@joepie91 I am seriously impressed. Craziest I've managed to date was a 17" CRT monitor on the back of a mountain bike. The rear suspension was... not right during that trip XD
@vxo Ah, this is a city bike so it basically has no rear suspension at all beyond the rubber tire 😅
I did specifically buy a (second-hand) bike with an old-style steel luggage rack - the newer aluminium ones tend to be rated for quite low loads and probably wouldn't fare as well with this kind of thing, and since I don't have a car, it kind of needs to... although the total *weight* of this stack wasn't that high, it was mostly just bulky.
I did notice it being loaded quite heavily! Bumps in the road were... not particularly pleasant.
I think I have enough planting boxes for now. Probably.
I'm still kind of surprised to find locally-manufactured(!), 100%-recycled-plastic planting boxes at a discount store for this little money. Apparently it *is* financially possible after all.
