duck duck fedi, how do I lock information (think a password) away so I can access it anymre out of like, impulsive reasons or what ever but if I really would need it for proper reasons again, I can still get to it?
(without relying on external beings, cause we feel like that's not reliable enough)

@daughterofrao I would lock it behind something that takes a lot of effort to get past. Whether physical (eg. a deposit box in a city far away) or virtual (eg. a difficult math puzzle, or arduous string to type out by hand). Enough effort that it's not worth it impulsively.

@daughterofrao (The inspiration for this is StayFocusd's "nuclear mode" which hard-blocks a configured list of sites as well as its own settings panel, and you can only get past it by typing out a long string with special characters that's shown on the screen)

@joepie91 hm... physically away feels too limiting, in case I need it.
and puzzle thing? I feel like everything I would create my self would... idk... be like I already know how to get there and would probably be able to bypass my own measures.

And like, the kind of situation in which I would like to not have access to it is especially the one where I throw away all ideals (ie. clicking accept on any ToS without having read them, handing out all my information in a desperate attempt to get something, generally doing things I'd otherwise would never ever do) and those last for hours at times, like a hyperfocus, with high energy to get stuff done.

Like, I kinda feel like I would need a lock, which can't be opened with force but with being gentle? Kinda like that but would also require not knowing how to be gentle with it beforehand else I can just exploit that in the negative situation
