Getting annoyed by election ads here. The TV doesn’t have an ad blocker 😑. It’s striking just how detached from reality it is. The parties in the coalition don’t acknowledge or engage at all with why they’re unpopular

The nationalists promise to “protect the borders”, cut taxes, and spend more money. The “privatise everything” party is pretending to be social-democratic. Nobody is picking up their “increase healthcare funding” means “privatise healthcare and let the private sector invest”

Everybody is promising that they’ll fix inflation, but that’s cause by the combined effects of a real-estate bubble and external factors. None of the parties have a realistic plan for deflating the bubble and they certainly can’t force peace in Ukraine, so that promise is another piece of bullshit.

RÚV, our public broadcaster has a decent quiz on their site that matches your goals and priorities to actual party policies and goals—which is good, and gives people a better sense of what party is for them—but it doesn’t take into account the voting history of their MPs. The Left-Greens should be a good fit, but they’ve spent the past 7 years voting right wing as a part of a coalition.

@baldur As someone in NL, with its 'kieswijzers', this is a *very* familiar problem and people will basically keep buying into election lies forever if this discrepancy doesn't get called out loudly in the public debate.
