: what keeps you from building your own community space on the web, that works exactly the way you want? :boost_requested:

This doesn't have to be about a fediverse space, and it doesn't matter what kind of reason it is - technical, financial, social, ethical, otherwise, I want to hear them all 🙂

(Boosts much appreciated, I'm hoping for this to get outside of my bubble!)

@joepie91 my mental health thats nonexistent and lack of funding
@joepie91 aaand also the fact in most cases people wouldnt give a fuck about it so theres that
Follow

@alex Do you mean as in, not wanting to hang around there?

@joepie91 a mix of this and the fact it would be a bit of a niche given how autistic i am about how i want things like that to work

@alex Would carving out your own community space not help to make it easier to find likeminded people?

(Not intended to argue the point, but rather to understand where you're coming from, what your rationale is and what issues you see with that)

@joepie91 not really, i'm overall a person thats very easy to despise and almost impossible to like, partially because of my mental health. even if that wasnt a problem its still a thing of How I Am

the most that i could ever do is a microscopic friend group but ive always been jealous of those small-ish fedi instances or internet groups where it was a bit bigger than 5 friends and it was mostly revolving around the idea of doing things together but also having a part of standalone presence (i dont know if vinesauce is a good representative of what im talking about idk)
@joepie91 actually i take it back - vinesauce is a good representation of what i think of; a bunch of friends united under one collective "brand" but also doing their own thing on the streams

idk theres so much i wanna say but its late and my brain isnt working well so i'd sound like a word salader

@alex You've already clarified quite a lot for me, thanks :)

Would be interested in chatting more about this at some later time, when you feel more up to it!

@joepie91 idk if you have an IM of some sort then fine, i dont do well in long discussions on fedi or other social media like that
@joepie91 like lets say there are enough people who would like, say, a community revolving around indie web but they would respise the way i want it to be ran and alive, so finding those who like both of these things would drown it into niche

or a space with a theme/topic that is niche in itself
