I have a problem. I wanted to rebuild my server on top of #NixOS, but recent happenings leave me worried about the long term future and stability of the project. I have no desire to migrate servers again. But I also do not wish to stay on Debian, either.

I already created the configuration, was just waiting for an opportunity when I can take the old down, and bring up the new one. But now... I'm not so sure.

It also affects my desktop, because I fully embraced NixOS, and am loving the power and convenience it gives me.

For a while now, I've been pondering what to do. And today, I had an idea: what if I migrated my server to #Guix instead? I can't migrate my desktop just yet, but... I could migrate my server. Especially if I end up hosting it at home.

But this will delay the migration of the server, considerably. Choices, choices.

@algernon I would recommend giving it a few days to see what comes out of the board statement tomorrow. It's unlikely that anything will spontaneously stop working, because contributors are in the same boat of being tied to it - it's just not clear whether it can continue as NixOS or whether a (compatible) fork will be needed.

@joepie91 I'm not rushing a decision, even in the best case scenario, I would have migrated my server end of May earliest. But I do have to consider my options if shit continues hitting the fan.
