Matrix/Element licensing
"We’ve seen Matrix adoption and use of Synapse and Dendrite skyrocket over the past few years. Sadly, the same isn’t true of the contributor ecosystem for those projects. The vast majority of maintenance and development on these projects comes from folks working at Element."
Well, yeah. That's what happens when people repeatedly complain about all the gaps and errors in the spec, and you don't solve them in a timely manner.
Matrix/Element licensing
@joepie91 wow.. Just wow.
Future code contributors to Synapse will need to sign a contributor license agreement (CLA) based on the Apache Software Foundation’s CLA, giving Element ownership of their contribution so we can use it to help fund Matrix core development in future.

Matrix/Element licensing
@joepie91 I have tried to contribute to Element a couple times and the MRs just sat unaddressed until the target codebase had diverged so significantly the MR was more merge conflicts than code.
