Reminder that it was specifically Facebook that popularized the myth that "real-name policies" prevent people from misbehaving on the internet
@Vampire The crucial part is that it didn't have this widespread reputation yet back when they popularized this concept (it would've been a decade+ ago), and in the meantime the concept has gotten laundered so thoroughly that most people seem to have forgotten that its widespread adoption started with Facebook.
@joepie91 I'm always surprised that people still believe a legal-name policy would actually achieve anything other than causing harm considering how well known that site was for its nazi problem.
