I have Questions about the journos breathlessly reporting on Overture's Places database as some sort of saviour of open-source mapping, without even bothering to mention OpenStreetMap in passing

Also, looking at Overture's data quality, yeah, I don't think that's getting imported into OpenStreetMap any time soon, if ever.

@joepie91 i haven't seen it or any analysis. is it really bad?

@mosttoast Grabbed a location where I know what the correct data is (because I've meticulously mapped it myself), and it was hard to find a POI in their dataset that *wasn't* wrong in some way or other
