It's a good thing that the Firefish folks have recognized their error, but I also can't help but observe that "we didn't notice they were nazis, and didn't actively check" conveys a certain... privilege

Like, there are rather a lot of people who cannot afford *not* to check, and allyship is about recognizing that others are bearing that sort of burden, and voluntarily taking over some of it

So if you're not in a habit of checking for nazis, and you wish to be an ally, well, then maybe you should *start* having that habit
