When activists are "being reasonable" and "going through proper channels", they generally have already (correctly) predicted that it's not going to work anyway, and they are doing it *entirely* for the benefit of convincing the "reasonable people" who "don't want to jump the gun" and "hear out all sides" that they know what they're doing

And I wish that those "reasonable people" would sometimes think about what that implies about their role in the whole thing

@joepie91 so in general, activism should not bother trying the reasonable, least disruptive method first, and go straight to extremism? Or am I misunderstanding?
